Windows Vista - Disable User Access Control (UAC)

User Access Control (UAC) is a highly annoying "feature" in Windows Vista that prompts you (the user) to ok almost any change to the system.

UAC will not stop a user from doing anything, unless the user chooses cancel, which not many people would do, plus, I feel, a feature like this can cause a user to become numb to prompts and automatically click ok on any prompt, which can make the computer more vulnerable to security threats.

To disable User Access Control:

  • Click Start, then Control Panel, then, if need be, Classic View

  • Double-click on User Accounts

  • Uncheck the box: Turn User Account Control on or off

  • Uncheck User Account Control Box

  • Restart your computer
