AVG Icon stays black & white and shows the internal virus database is out of date. (Windows XP)

When you try to update AVG, a box pops up that says "your AVG program already has the latest updates installed and is fully up to date".

Effective April 30, 2009, AVG has discontinued support for its version 7.5. If you wish to continue to use AVG Free Edition, upgrade to version 8.5. For instructions on how to download and install AVG 8.5, go here.
